James Orlan Belin

James Orlan Belin, age 84, of Amarillo, TX, (formerly of Hermitage, AR,) died Sunday January 10, 2010 at Ussery-Roan Texas Veteransí Home in Amarillo, TX. He was born August 17, 1925 in Lanark, AR, a son of the late Elzer Belin and Myrtle Arnold Belin. After 34 years of service, he retired from Amoco Chemical Corporation. He graduated from Hermitage High School and was a graduate of Arkansas A&M. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the U.S.S. New Jersey Battleship in the Pacific Theatre fighting in 9 active engagements, served in Army National Guard. He was also a 32nd degree mason, deacon in service to God for 50 years, past president of the Evening Lions Club in El Dorado, AR, and a former Mayor of Hermitage, AR. On January 18, 1947, he married Anita Jean Vickers Belin and she died May 20, 1997. Also, preceding him in death was a sister- Marilan Reeves and a son-in-law- Robert V. Hill. Survivors are 2 daughters- Sandra Kaye Lambden, and spouse, Roy L. of Claude, TX, Linda J. Belin Hill of Amarillo, TX. 1 sister- Helen Broom of Montgomery, AL; 2 grandchildren- James Bradley Lambden and spouse, Teffny Ann of Amarillo, TX, Jaime Lynn Sweeney and spouse, James Wacie of Claude, TX; 6 great-grandchildren- Dalton James Lambden, Riley Paige Clark, Landree Addison Lambden, Maverick Jamison Sweeney, Jacie Lynn Sweeney, and Sunnie Nichole Sweeney; Several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Funeral service was 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Music was provided by Brad Lambden, Melvin Mills, Nina Harrod, and Janice Sullivan. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls, AR by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were James Wall, Linwood Dees, Kenneth Mann , Chris Wright , Mark Vickers , and Mike McDougald. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Marcantel, Sonny Bethea, Johnny Baker, Kyle Steelman, Dan Vickers, Lynn Wright, Perry Dubose , Tommy Duncan , Eddie Scroggins, George Belin, Baker Peebles, Butch Belin, Doyle Gates, Fred Sparks, Noel Richards, Claude Knowles, Wilson Richards, Stan Roberts, and Baily Mac Hargis. Memorials are preferred: Gideonís International.
