Obituary:
Nela Harper Carter, age 102, of Medina, Ohio died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Western Reserve Masonic Community, Medina. She was born June 13, 1907 in Harman, West Virginia a daughter of the late Minor Harper and Clara Cooper Harper. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Akron, the Akron City Club and the Eastern Star. She was active in social functions at Western Reserve Masonic Community. She was preceded in death by three husbands Charlie Head, Bishop Holstein and Warren E. Carter. Mr. Carter was the founder of Carter-Jones Timber Company and the Carter Companies of Warren, Arkansas and Akron, Ohio. Mr. Carter died May 31, 2000 at the age of 102. Also preceding her in death step-daughter Lillian Sackett; stepsons, Van Carter and Jim Carter; brothers Fred, Stelman, Harry, and Albert; sisters Erma, Zetta, Sally, Evelyn and Virginia. She is survived by her step daughters-in-law, Gloria Carter and Minnie Carter and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Graveside service was 1:30pm Friday, January 8, at Moseley Cemetery near Warren with Rev. William Ashcraft officiating. Active pallbearers were Richard L. Roper, Gary Saunders, Curtis Saunders, Craig Mann, Andy Evans, Delbert Zimmerly, Carlton Davis, and Gerald Burton.
