Mildred Clanton McClendon, age 90, of Warren, AR. died Thursday December 30, 2004,at Wagnon Place Nursing Home. She was born on August 26, 1914 at Vick AR., a daughter of the late Thomas Oscar Clanton and Effie Eleen Sledd Clanton. She was a retired elementary school teacher from the Warren Public School System with 42 years of service. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Warren where she served as Church Historian. She was an active citizen in supporting the various political elections and served as past President of Warren Womanís Club; past President of the Warren Garden Club; former Vice President of A.A.R.P.; former Vice President of Bradley County Hospital Axillary, and former Historian of the Bradley County Museum. She was the widow of Lucian Kirby McClendon who died June 4, 1990. They were united in marriage January 28, 1934. In the later years of her life she traveled, and was able to see many parts of the United States and Europe. She loved to grow flowers in the yard, and made sure that there were many beautiful ones that were planted and cared for. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jack Perry McClendon and Vera A. McClendon of Atlanta, GA., and Lucian Philip McClendon and Lena G. McClendon of Leesburg, VA. By her brother Ronald Clanton of Warren, AR., and her sisters Madge Lasiter of Fordyce, AR. and Lois Hilmer of Tucson, AZ. She has 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and many friends. Funeral service were 1:30 p.m. Monday January 3, 2005 at Frazerís Chapel by Rev. Siegfried Johnson. Janice Sullivan was the organist and Tom McBee the soloist. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Steve McClendon, Lucian McClendon, Jr., Christopher McClendon, Daniel McClendon, Tim OíKelly and Nate Sykes.
