Obituary:
Mary Sue Gilbert Anders, age 83, of Jersey, Arkansas died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Baptist Medical Center, she was born March 11, 1925 in Calhoun County, Arkansas a daughter of the late Walter L. “Dode” Gilbert and Minnie Frances Webb Gilbert. She was a graduate of Harrell High School, a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker and, for 38 years, a self employed contract chicken producer. She was Arkansas Broiler Producer of the year in 1978 and top grower for Tyson many times. Surviving is her husband Gordon Anders whom she married on December 24, 1947; 2 sons Jim Anders and spouse Ginger, Jersey, Ark. and Joe Anders and spouse Karen, Warren, Ark; 4 grandchildren Chris Anders, Ruston, La, Brad Anders, Maumelle, Ark, Alicia Davidson, Mabelvale, Ark and Heather Owen, Lonoke, Ark; 4 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers Morris Gilbert, Emon Gilbert and Charles Gilbert and 4 sisters Ollie Whittington, Nellie Maude Mulligan, Odie Lee Wright and Martha Lou Anders. Funeral services were 2:00pm Monday, March 9, 2009 at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Jerry Hines and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist were Travis Ivey and Danny Ivey. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery, Jersey by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were David Anders, Steve Anders, Andy Anders, Eddie Ferrell, Dennis Ferrell, Ted Anders, Kenneth McDougald, Donny Stroud, John Lamb, Denny Matricardi and Phillip Swofford. Honorary pallbearers were James Ederington, Wayne Ederington, J.C. Burns, Carniece Gilbert, Denny Dixon, David Lee Hampton, James Nichols, Delbert Nichols, Tommy Tooke, John Kinley, Buddy Reaves, Joe Dale Reynolds, Joe Don Greenwood and Keith Curry. Memorials preferred to Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Jersey or Jersey Shady Grove Cemetery, 1625 Highway 160 West, Jersey, Arkansas 71651.
