Obituary:
E C Finley, age 79, of North Little Rock, AR. passed away on November 29, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He was born April 12, 1929 in Fordyce, AR. to Edward C. Finley and Mattie Crow Finley. He attended school in Kingsland, AR. and Banks, AR. until the premature death of his parents. At the tender age of 17, E C joined the U.S. Air Force and spent the next 24 years serving his country with tours of duty in Japan, Germany and various bases in the U.S. He retired as a MSgt. in 1970. Secondary careers were Building Manager for seven years with F.O. Wardlaw and Maintenance Supervisor for ten years with Worthen Bank. Until his illness, he used his retirement years and love of driving to transport cars for several dealerships. E C was a devoted husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and great grand-father and was affectionately called “Pe-paw” He enjoyed his family, traveling with his wife and volunteering at his church. The family wishes to thank the ministers of First Assembly of God in North Little Rock and those special friends and relatives who were so faithful to visit E C and pray with him during his illness. Our deepest gratitude is also extended to the doctors, nurses and staff at Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock for their professional and compassionate health care. E C is preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters, and his first wife, Dorothy Neal Finley, the mother of his son and daughter. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nadine Rivers Finley; son Keith D. Finley and wife Mimi, of Metairie, LA; daughter Robin K. Finley of Little Rock; step daughter Glenda A. Lesher and husband Bill, of North Little Rock; grandsons Matthew Finley and David Walgamotte,Jr. of Metairie, LA; Steven Jackson and wife Miriam, Austin, AR; Christian Lesher and wife Samantha, of Sherwood, AR; and five great-grandsons: Evan and Seth Jackson, Jackson Lesher, Brandon and Lance Walgamotte. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 2, Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 J.F.K. Boulevard, North Little Rock, AR. Jonalyn Reep was organist and the Bryant Sisters sang. Burial with military honors was 3:00 p.m. Tuesday December 2, in Crossroads Cemetery at Kingsland, AR. Arrangements by Frazer’s Funeral Home, Warren, AR. Memorials preferred Mission Fund of First Assembly of God, 4501 Burrow Dr., North Little Rock, AR. 72116 or a charity of your choice. Active pallbearers were Gary Rivers, Ron Rivers, Bob Thompson, Fay Wardlaw, Ricky Neal, Joe Elbert Burks, Larry Fluharty, Steve Hicks. Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Morris, George Melvin, David Harding, Mark Piere and Relton Spann.
