Billy Ray Savage, age 76, of Sumpter, Arkansas died Thursday, August 14, at Bradley County Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1932 at Sumpter, Arkansas a son of the late Carlton Savage and Effie Braswell Savage. He was a member of Martins Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired auto body mechanic. Surviving is his wife Wanda Varniece Rogers Savage whom he married on March 6, 1954; 1 son Donald Ray Savage and spouse Darlene, Sumpter, Ark; 1 daughter Teresa Nichols and spouse Eddie, Camden, Ark; 1 brother Haskel Savage and spouse Katie, Bedford, Tex; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister Almeda Chandler. Funeral services were 10:00am Saturday, August 16, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann, Rev. Melissa Maskell and Rev. Robbie Duncan officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and Danny Ivey and Travis Ivey sang. Burial was in Outlaw Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were Tommy Chandler, Larry Chandler, Robbie Duncan, Jonathan Beasley, Hugh Allen Beasley, Gerald Wayne Wilson and Winford McKinney. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Ken Purvis, Sam Russell, Bernard Smith, Donald Stuard and Cliff Winters. Memorials preferred Outlaw Cemetery Association or American Cancer Society.
