Obituary:
Lt Col Monroe Ferrell, US Army (ret.) age 82, of Panama City, Florida formerly of Bradley County, Arkansas died Thursday, May 1, at home. He was born January 14, 1926 at Johnsville, Arkansas a son of the late Fletcher M. Ferrell and Maude Belle Clanton Ferrell. He was raised by the late Cason E. Clanton and Emma Bell McClain Clanton. He received his education at Hampton School System, Henderson State University, Gulf Coast Jr College and West Florida University. He was a member of Forrest Park United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife Joy Vining Ferrell whom he married on September 5, 1953 at Oak Grove, La; a brother Allen Ferrell, Johnsville, Ark; a sister Beatrice Davis, Poquoson, Virginia; stepmother Edna Ferrell, Heber Springs, Ark; 7 half brothers Harvey Ferrell, Shreveport. La, Harry Ferrell, Shreveport, La, Hurley Ferrell, South Carolina, Herman Ferrell and Jabe Ferrell both of Oak Grove, La, Wylie, Mobile, Ala, and Bernard Ferrell, Heber springs, Ark; 3 half sisters Betty Smith, greater New Orleans, La, Jimmie Lou Ellerby, Oak Grove, La and Mary Kees, Heber Springs, Ark,. He was also preceded in death by two sons Dennis Ferrell and Ray Ferrell and a sister Gracie Spurgin. Funeral services were 2:00pm Monday, May 5, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Flag Presentation Ceremony by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Carroll Gene Temple, Bill Nelms, Jim Householder, Glenn Clark, Randy Vining, Bruce Harrison, Bryan Vining and Lathan Hairston. Memorials preferred to Forrest Park United Methodist Church building Fund, 1401 West 23rd Street, Panama City, Fla. 32405
