Rufus Norman Johnson, age 77, of Van Buren, Arkansas died Wednesday, March 23, at Brownwood Manor, Van Buren. He was born May 28, 1927 at Marsden, Arkansas a son of the late Robert Sisro Johnson and Edrie Catherine Smith Johnson. He was a U S Army veteran of World War II, a retired construction contractor, a member of Lodge #89 F&AM, Edgemont, Ark. and a member of Halfmoon Baptist Church. He Married Fay Katherine Butler Johnson on November 15, 1947 and she died in l993. Surviving are 4 sons Terry Wayne Johnson, Morris Chapel, Tenn, Rufus Norman Johnson, Jr. Roanoke Rapids, N.C, Robert Henderson Johnson, Plummerville, Ark. and Jimmie Boyd Johnson, Uniontown, Ark; 2 daughters Elvira Jane Cooner, Bonita Springs, Fla. and Rachel Lanet Webb, Raleigh, N.C.;3 brothers Ivan Johnson, Mississippi, Byron Johnson and William Johnson, Texarkana, USA; 3 sisters Martha, Margie and Docie; 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A daughter Deborah Fay Rose also preceded him in death. Graveside services were 10:00am Saturday, March 26, at Marsden Cemetery with Jimmie Boyd Johnson officiating. Arrangements by Frazerís Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were Jimmie Johnson, II., Quintin Johnson, Terry Johnson, II., Wesley Johnson, Zacheriah Johnson, Dusty Rose and Alvin Isom.
