Peggy Gene Wood Thornton, age 75, of Athens, Georgia formerly of Hermitage, Arkansas died Sunday, September 9, at St Maryís Hospice House, Bogart, Georgia. She was born September 30, 1931 at Magness, Arkansas a daughter of the late Winslow J. Wood and Mary Medrith House Wood. She was a Methodist and a retired production inspector for Gen-Corp Automotive. She married James Everett Thornton on December 16, 1955 at Houston, Texas and he died February 8, 2002. Two sons also preceded her in death Reginald Glenn Thornton and Kerry Everette Thornton. Surviving is a daughter Kimberlee Thornton Baumgarner and spouse Phillip, Athens, Georgia; a sister Ella Roberson and spouse Gene, Magness, Ark: sister-in-laws Margaret Hollingsworth and spouse Steve, Nacogdoches, Tex. and Betty Martin and spouse Louis, Cleveland, Texas and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2:00pm Friday, September 14, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist was Robby Nowlin. Burial was in Gravelridge Cemetery near Hermitage, Arkansas by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Thomas Rice, Charlie Rawls, Lewis Martin, Steve Hollingsworth, Baker Peebles and Andy Thornton.
