Rev. Maurice Brown Hargis, age 88, of Warren, Arkansas died Tuesday, March 22, at home. He was born June 23, 1916 in Bradley County, Arkansas a son of the late Charles Hargis and Bird Brown Hargis. Rev. Hargis was a graduate of Ouachita University and Southwestern Theology Seminary at Fort Worth. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, a retired billing clerk for Potlatch Corp and a retired Southern Baptist Minister. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He married Maxine Callaway Hargis on August 5, 1943 at Warren, Arkansas and she died January 1, 1996. Surviving are 4 sons Charles Allen Hargis, Monticello, Ark, Kenneth Ray Hargis, North Little Rock, Ark, Calvin Leon Hargis, El Dorado, Ark. and Reuben Wayne Hargis, Jacksonville, Ark; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services were 1:30pm Saturday, March 26, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and soloist were Lora Elizabeth Hargis and Bob Haygood. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Scott Steadman, Jerry Woodall, James Ray Young, Bill Young, Dale Wolfe, Wayne Griffin and Gary Langford.
