Rachel Berry Butler, age 93, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 13, at Trinity Village. She was born November 17, 1911 at Warren, Arkansas a daughter of the late William Norman Berry and Jessie Pearl Garrison Berry. She was a 1929 graduate of Warren High School, a 1931 graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College, Conway and a 1963 graduate of Arkansas A & M College, Monticello. She taught first grade in Wilson, Arkansas, the Pine Bluff Arsenal and Dollarway Elementary for 25 years. She married Clary Frank Butler at Warren on July 31, 1938 and he died on October 22, 1974. She lived most of her life in Pine Bluff moving to Trinity Village Lodge in January 2001. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff for over 50 years, an officer in the Barean Sunday School class and was active in the church circle and the hand bell choir. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association, R.S.V.P. and did volunteer work at the Cherry Street Davis Nursing Home. Surviving is a son Dr. Robert Butler and spouse Betty, Pine Bluff, Ark; a daughter Rebecca Butler Elcan and spouse Chris, Innsbrook, Mo; 5 grandchildren Kimberly Elcan Graman, Lake St. Louis, Mo; Douglas Butler and Beth Butler both of Pine Bluff, Ark; Kay Elcan Hake, Columbia, Mo and Bill Elcan, Joplin, Mo; 7 great grandchildren. A brother Jack Erwin Berry and an infant daughter who died October 14, 1945 also preceded her in death. Graveside services were 11:00am Saturday, July 16, at Oakland Cemetery at Warren by Rev. Dari Victoria Rowen. Pallbearers were Bill Elcan, Bob Graman, Mike Berry, Michael Barker, Doug Butler and Rickey Riley.
