James Kenneth Griggs, Jr, age 59, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas died Wednesday, January 3, at home. He was born June 26, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas a son of the late James Kenneth Griggs and Shirley Anne Heagler Griggs. He was a 1965 graduate of Warren High School, attended North Texas State University, Denton, Texas and Arkansas A & M College, Monticello. From June, 1969 to May of 1983 he was associated with Eller, Heagler & Associates Consulting Engineers, Pine Bluff; from June, 1983 to August 1996 was an estimator for Key Company of Arkansas, Inc, Pine Bluff and in September, 1996 was President/Owner of Trentech, Inc, General Contractor, Pine Bluff. He was a member of Happy Tymes Jazz Band, The Real Band, Friends of Tom Tiratto Orchestra, the Tommy Henderson Band, The UFO Band and The Sonny Land Band. He worked with the Arkansas Symphony Pops Orchestra, The Dallas Symphony, the Tupelo Symphony Big Band, The Dick Jergens Orchestra, the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, the Jan Garber Orchestra, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the American All-Star Orchestra, The Ringling Brothers Circus Band, The Miss Arkansas Orchestra, The Gridiron Orchestra, The Stardust Big Band, The Junction Band and many more. He preformed with Mel Torme, Bob Hope, B. J. Thomas, Marty Stewart, Ace Canon, Tony Orlando and Dawn, the Coasters, Clem DeRosa, Guy Hovis, The Hot Cotton Jazz Band and many more. He is survived by his wife Linda Hemingway Griggs whom he married on June 14, `1969 at McGehee, Ark; 1 son James Kenneth Griggs, III and spouse Jenny Zulpo Griggs, Springdale, Ark; 2 daughters Leslie Ann Griggs Rhodes and spouse Justin, White Hall, Ark. and Susan Langston Griggs Kerr and spouse Greg, Bryant, Ark; a grandson William Garett Rhodes, White Hall, Ark. A brother Mark Griggs also preceded him in death. Funeral services were 2:00pm Friday, January 5, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Pine Bluff by The Rev. Walter Van Zandt Windsor. Faron Wilson was the Organist and Choirmaster, Carol Dais, Verger, Mary McBee and Ronnie Stayton Lectors and Jack Davis and Orben McLemore Ushers. The Happy Tymes Jazz Band played. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery at Warren by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Earl Allred, Joe Cripp, Robert English, Tommy Henderson, E. O. Huddleston, Dale Kriner, Lloyd Shnaekel and Joe Tribett. Honorary pallbearers were W. R. Heagler, Jr., Bob Flowers, Milton M. Hemingway, Johnny Langston, Richard Newland and Jerry Smith.
