Obituary:
Raymond R. Slaughter, age 77, of Warren, Arkansas died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Arkansas Heart Hospital, Little Rock. He was born June 15, 1929 in El Dorado, Arkansas a son of the late Elzie B. Slaughter and Eva Adams Slaughter. He received his education in the El Dorado Public School System and South Arkansas University. He served in the US Air Force at the rank of Master Sergeant from 1950 to 1964 stationed in Honolulu and San Antonio and the Presidential Squadron in Washington, D. C. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Warren, the El Dorado Civitans and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a retired commercial pilot, former owner of Ray Slaughter Aviation, Air Center of Arkansas, American International Car Rental of El Dorado, Radair, Inc, Arkansas Air Couriers, Sunbelt Couriers and the Smokehouse. In his retirement years, Ray enjoyed managing the Potlatch Staff House, catering, managing Second Baptist Church of El Dorado food services and being First Baptist Church of Warren Host. Surviving is his wife Lou Reaves Slaughter whom he married on November 12, 1964 at El Dorado, Ark; 2 sons Todd R. Slaughter, Gainesville, Georgia and Tracy W. Slaughter and spouse Lynne Farrari, Camden, Ark; 1 daughter Melissa S. Shaver and spouse Craig, McKinney, Tx; 1 brother J. W. Slaughter, Shreveport, La; 2 sisters Monteene Tanner and Glenna Wynne both of El Dorado, Ark; father in law Bill and spouse Peggy Abernathy, El Dorado, Ark; 4 grandchildren Alex Slaughter, Camden, Ark, Caroline Shaver, Mackenzie Shaver and Joseph Shaver all of McKinney, Tx. He was also preceded in death by a brother Byron Slaughter. Funeral services were 10:00am Friday, November 10, 2006 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Murphy and Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Music was provided by Fred Bierbaum, June Bierbaum, Marlin Raines and Donna Raines. Burial with flag presentation ceremony was in Reaves Family Cemetery in the Oakdale Community by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Les Chandler, Jack Pesses, Ron Griggs, Jimmy Slaughter, Ralph Coston, Jimmy Goad, Tom Walbert and Larry Reaves. Honorary pallbearers were members of the El Dorado Civitans Club.
