Louis M. Hooks, age 77 of Banks, Arkansas died Tuesday, September 26th at Wagnon Place Nursing Home. He was born, May 27, 1929 in Crossett, Arkansas a son of the late Melvin Hooks and Susie Brooks Hooks. He retired from General Electric in Ohio and moved to South Arkansas. For the last several years, worked as a construction worker and worked for the Crossett Housing Authority in Crossett, Arkansas. He was a member of the Banks Baptist Church and a 32degree Mason. He is preceded in death by his former wife Helen West Hooks, a brother Russell Hooks, a sister Patsy Loomis and a favorite uncle, Louis Brooks. He is survived by his wife, whom he married October 21, 1983 in Crossett, Arkansas, Remona Hendrix Barnett Hooks, of Banks, Arkansas. A daughter, Jeannie Wisenour, Bucyrus Ohio. 6 brotherís, Jack Brooks, Pacific City, Oregon,; Merldean Hooks, Crossett, Arkansas,; Joe Hooks, Smackover, Arkansas,; Cecil Hooks Chidester, Arkansas,; Bill Hooks, Pine Bluff, Arkansas,; Marion Hooks, Camden, Arkansas. 5 sisterís Lois Green, Junction City, Arkansas,í Merline Knight, Hampton, Arkansas,; Morris Jeffreys, Banks, Arkansas; Peggy Morgan, East Camden, Arkansas and Marilyn Pitts, Hot Springs, Arkansas. 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews and 2 very special friends Jake Dendinger, Bellevue, Ohio and Frances Cole, Jasper, Alabama. Funeral services were 10:00 am Friday, September 29th at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Tony Rhinehart and Rev. Jimmie Lewis officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and soloist were Rev. Tony Rhinehart, Margaret Barnett and Tony Hendrix. Burial was in Smackover Cemetery, Smackover Arkansas by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Billy Jefferys, Merldean Hooks, Joe Hooks, Cecil Hooks, Bill Hooks, Marion Hooks. Honorary pallbearers were Jaker Smith and Lawrence Kiersey.
