Dr. Timothy Joe” Tim” Smith, age 40, of Searcy, Arkansas died Thursday, April 27, at White County Medical Center at Searcy. He was born September 17, 1965 at Warren, Arkansas a son of Betty Lawson Smith, Warren, Arkansas and the late Earl “Boots” Smith. He was a l983 Warren High School graduate, a graduate of Louisiana Baptist University and received his Doctorate of Theology Degree from Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, Georgia. Dr. Smith had extensive training in premarital and marriage counseling and Successful Christian Financial Management. He was the pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church, Searcy and served Glendale Baptist Church, Boonville, Ark, Saline Baptist Church, Hermitage and Bethel Baptist Church, Gould. He was a “people person”, who loved working with and being around people. Dr. Smith believed in being involved in counseling, hospital visitation and visiting in the homes of members and the unchurched. He was very much a family man and God blessed him with a wonderful family and church family. He realized that whatever success he saw was only because of the power and grace of almighty God. His ministry was God’s, he gave all the honor and glory to Him. He was a member of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. Surviving other than his mother is his wife Kathy Dean Smith whom he married on September 22, 1984 at Gravelridge, Arkansas; 1 son Joshua Tyler Smith, Searcy, Ark; 1 daughter Megan Nicole Smith, Searcy, Ark; 1 brother Gary Smith, Warren, Ark; 1 sister Kimberly “Kim” Smith Gambill, Bryant, Ark. His extended family included Larry and Carolyn Huitt, David, Karen, Lani, Derek, Troxey and Cassie Simmons, Scott, Wendy and Alex Dean, Matt, Leslie, Ally and Leah Huitt, Blake and Jade Huitt. He was preceded in death by his pappaw, George McDougald. Funeral services 2:00pm Sunday, April 30, at Trinity Baptist Church, Searcy and 10:00 am Monday, May 1, at Frazer’s Chapel, Warren, Arkansas. Burial in Gravelridge Cemetery near Hermitage, Arkansas. Visitations will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm Saturday, April 29, at Powell Funeral Home, Searcy, Ark. and 7:00pm to 9:00pm Sunday, April 30, at Frazer’s Funeral Home, Warren, Arkansas.
