A W Walker, age 77, of Warren, AR. died Thursday March 16, at his home. Born June 19, 1928 at Magnolia, AR. a son of the late Alvin Walker and Ophelia Baker Walker he was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant with 22 years 11 months and 19 days of service of which he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received a silver star and a purple heart, former employee Coast to Coast Hardware store in Warren, AR. with 10 years service, member First Baptist Church of Warren where he was a member of the Baracca Sunday School Class. Also, preceding him in death was a sister Patsy Walker Smith. Survivors are his wife Nan Hairston Walker whom he married May 27, 1977. 1 son Sammy Walker of Bealton, VA. 1 step son Joe Hairston and spouse Debbie of Warren, AR., 1 daughter Tamara White of Chantilly, VA., 3 grandchildren Julie Hall of Bealton, VA., Brian Hairston of Conway, AR. and Kimberly McGaughey of Sherwood, AR., 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 18, Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and soloist was Joe Stephens. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Doug Thornton, Mark Smith, Kenneth McDougald, Chuck McGinty, Bobby Hargrave, Sammy Roberts, Marlin Raines and Jimmy Clements. Honorary pallbeaerers were Leroy Thornton, J.W. Baker, Bernard Smith, members Baracca Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and Arkansas Game & Fish Commission wildlife officers. Memorials preferred First Baptist Church Building Fund or Bradley County Veterans Museum.
