Royce Martin Wardlaw, age 77, of Hermitage, Arkansas died Monday, February 6, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was born November 12, 1928 at Wilmar, Arkansas a son of the late Robert Lee “Pete” Wardlaw and Lela Martin Wardlaw. He was a graduate of Vick High School, a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of Palestine United Methodist Church, a farmer and for 18 years the owner- operator of Wardlaw’s Store. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sue Hickman Wardlaw whom he married on January 14, 1955 at Greenville, Miss; 2 sons Marty Wardlaw and spouse Carla and Mitch Wardlaw and spouse Neci all of Hermitage, Ark; 2 daughters Connie Groves and spouse Wade and Lesia Hollis all of Hermitage, Ark; 9 grandchildren Shane Groves, Jeffrey Wardlaw, Craig Wardlaw, Shannon Ashcraft, Marty Lee Wardlaw, Nealee Hollis, Cody Hollis, Madison Wardlaw and Anna Katherine Wardlaw; 2 great grandchildren Logan Ashcrft and Landon Ashcraft; 2 nephews and 1 niece. A sister Billie Louise Lavender also preceded him in death. Funeral services were 3:30pm Wednesday, February 8, at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann, Rev. Charles Cauley and Rev. Brent Hutsell officiating. Sharon Braswell gave the eulogy. Paige Grider was organist. Soloist were Holly Wardlaw, Madison Wardlaw, Jerry and Teresa Neathrey, Beverly Blankenship and Pam Lowry. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery near Johnsville, Arkansas by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were Jeffrey Wardlaw, Marty Lee Wardlaw, Cody Hollis, Craig Wardlaw, Shane Groves and Scotty Ferrell. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Ferrell, Dale Douglas, Randy Clanton, Eugene Davis, Dr. Kerry Pennington, Charles Ferrell, Sonny Rainey, Donnie Lowry, David Temple, Karen Richardson, Members Palestine United Methodist Church, WLRC Hunting Club and Martin Bottons Hunting Club.
