Frances Baker Clanton age 83, of Houston, Texas died Tuesday, January 3, at Parkway Place Retirement Center. She was born July 28, 1922 in Hermitage, Arkansas a daughter of the late Lucien Watts Baker and Maude Bartlett Baker. She was a retired school teacher with 15 years of service in the Wichita Falls, Texas, school system, a Cum Laude graduate of Midwestern University in Wichita Falls with a B.A. in Business, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major (Ret) Thomas Ralph Clanton, whom she married February 12, 1945 in Hot Springs, Arkansas and he died July 13, 2000. 2 brothers Bailey Baker and Jack Baker; 3 sisters Marguerite Newton, Bobbie Massey and Nita McKnight all preceded her in death. Surviving is a son, Dr. Thomas O. Clanton, and spouse Kay, Houston, Texas; 2 granddaughters Laura Clanton Seelig, Vail, Colorado and Kelly Clanton Holton, Edwards, Colorado. Funeral services were 3:30pm Saturday, January 7th, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and soloist was Larry Killian. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Charles Payton Lasiter, Scott Clanton, Randall Herring, Jacob Clanton, Joshua Clanton and Baker Peebles.
