Mitchel W. “Pete” Godwin, age 83, of Warren, Arkansas died Saturday, December 10, at Bradley County Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1922 at Warren, Arkansas a son of the late Mitchel Washington Godwin and Lura Grubbs Godwin. He was a graduate of Warren High School, a U. S. Air Corp veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and the Warren Lodge #33 F&AM. He was the retired owner of Motor Parts Company, a retired member of the Bradley County Road Department and a member of First United Methodist Church and the Fisherman’s Sunday School Class. Surviving is his wife Shirley Broach Godwin whom he married on August 26, 1944 at Warren, Arkansas; 1 son Mike Godwin and spouse Rosemary, Fort Worth, Tex; 1 daughter Jackie Taylor and spouse Danny, Russellville, Ark; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. 3 brothers Thad Godwin, Bill Godwin and Kenneth Godwin and a sister Hazel Baker also preceded him in death. Funeral services were 10:00am Monday, December 12, at Frazer’s Chapel by Rev. Siegfried Johnson. Janice Sullivan was the organist and Linda Baker Warrick the soloist. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were Steve Richardson, Scott Richardson, Don Rice, Calvin Heird, Ernest Johnson, Leland Bryant and Bob Richardson. Honorary pallbearers were the Fisherman’s Sunday School Class, Richard Gray, James Lee Mullins, Jack Baker and Dr. Kerry Franklin Pennington, MD.
