Dorothy Cooper Pennington, age 71, of Warren, Arkansas died Tuesday, May 17 at Bradley County Medical Center. She was born January 10, 1934 in Bradley County, Arkansas a daughter of the late Carl A. Cooper and Rhoda Parnell Cooper. For 20 year she was the financial secretary of Calvary Baptist Church and a bookkeeper for 18 years at Warren Public School System. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and an active member of the WMA. Surviving is her spouse Matthew Pennington whom she married on November 17, 1951 at Warren, Ark; a son Dr. Kerry Franklin Pennington, MD and spouse Debbie, Warren, Ark; a daughter Rhonda Simmons and spouse Joe Gary, Warren, Ark; a sister Betty Ragar, Warren, Ark; 4 grandchildren Emily Harton, Maumelle, Ark, Brooke Reynolds, Elizabeth Pennington and Matthew Davis Pennington all of Warren, Ark; 2 step grandchildren Courtland Ashcraft and Chase Ashcraft both of Warren, Ark; 2 great grandchildren. 2 brothers Rev. Dr. Harold Cooper and Hugh Cooper and 3 sisters Pauline Burks, Catherine Harrod and Lucy Carter also preceded her in death. Funeral services were 2:00pm Thursday, May 19, at Frazer’s Chapel by Rev. Arlis East, Rev, Sigfried Johnson and Rev. Charles Attaberry. Janice Sullivan was the organist and Sharon Ballentine, Brenda Pope, Robin Hariston and Cindy Miller the singers. . Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Grady Rawls, Phillip “Jaybird” Wylie, Cecil Carmical, Charles O’Neal, Bob Powell, Robert Reynolds, Weldon Sledge and James Kitchens.
