Jack Wilson Speir, age 74, of Bryant, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 20, at St Vincents. He was born April 15, 1931 in Roland, Oklahoma a son of the late James Luther Speir, Sr. and Ollie Elsie Blaylock Speir. He served in the US Army, was a master mechanic with Standard Oil Company for 20 years and retired from the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division for Services for the Blind. He was a member of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bryant. Surviving is his wife Roxie Outlaw Speir whom he married on September 5, 1981 at Van Buren, Ark; 4 sons Jack Wilson Speir, Jr, Seattle, Wash, Billy Outlaw, Woodland Park, Colo, Dwight Speir, Haywood, Calif. and Brian Outlaw, Madera, Calif; 3 daughters April Hamwi, Little Rock, Ark, Helen Caroline Speir and Rebecca Davis Strong both of Rowland, Okla; 1 brother Jerry Speir, Stillwater, Okla; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother James Luther Speir, Jr. and 3 sisters Jewel Patterson, Mavis Blaylock and Pearline McCalman. Funeral services were 10:00am Saturday, July 23, at First United Methodist Church of Bryant with Rev. Bud Reeves and Rev. Hammett Evans officiating. Pianist was Teresa Eby, soloist was Andrew Scott and the Menís Quartet sang. Burial was 4:00pm in Outlaw Cemetery at Sumpter, Arkansas by Frazerís Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were Frank Chandler, Mark Edwards, Larry Gentry, Dale Smith, John Fleming and Brian Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Strong and Christian Outlaw. Memorials preferred to First United Methodist Church of Bryant or Martins Chapel United Methodist Church.
