Joe Travis Taylor, age 85, of Rye, Arkansas died Saturday, November 22, at Bradley County Medical Center. He was born September 19, 1918 in Bradley County, Arkansas a son of the late Robert Bob Taylor and Ethel Pate Taylor. He served in the US Army 32nd Division in the southwest pacific during World War II, was a life long farmer and active member of Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife Flossie G. Bradley Taylor whom he married on November 29, 1954 at Hampton, Arkansas; 5 sons Joe Taylor and spouse Martie, Monticello, Ark., Tim Taylor and spouse Teresa, Rye, Ark., Bob Taylor, Rye, Ark., Edward Johnston and spouse Darcie, Rye, Ark. and Johnny Wayne Johnston and spouse Marshean, Logansport, La.; 2 daughters Glenda Johnston Proctor, Taylor, Tex. and Patricia Johnston Athey and spouse Leonard, DeQueen, Ark.; 1 brother J. C. Taylor, Rye, Ark.; 1 sister Tommie “Bill” Rhodes, Rye, Ark.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters Vera Teague, Erma Peters and Helen Shepherd and a grandchild L. J. Athey. Funeral services were 10:00 am Monday, November 24, at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Victor Hunter and Rev. Bennie McKinney. Tracy Nichols played. Burial was in Union Cemetery at Rye by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were David Nichols, Jimmy Dale Adair, Danny Gene Adair, Bradley Athey, Steve Harrelson Keith Taylor and Jerry Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Bradley, James Bradley, Charles Nichols, Mike Young, Dale Taylor and Dr. Kerry F. Pennington, MD.
