Norma Ruth Thompson, age 73 of New Edinburg, AR died Wednesday, December 26th at the Green House Cottages in Rison, AR. She was born April 28th, 1945 in Warren, AR a daughter of the late Leroy and Opal Bryant Thompson. Norma was a dearly loved retired elementary school teacher for over 28 years, with most of her service committed to the Rison School district and her students. Norma was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church, a graduate of the New Edinburg Public Schools and the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she earned her teaching degree. Norma was an avid bell collector and had a love for collecting them. She was also preceded in death by her brother Rev. Roy L. Thompson and a nephew, David Thompson. She is survived by her sister Nell Thompson Brown and spouse Floyd, Warren, AR. Nephews Daniel Thompson and spouse Karen, New Edinburg, AR and Jason Brown and spouse Brigette, Garland, TX. A sister in law Betty Lanier Thompson, Clinton, AR. A grandnephew Jeremy Thompson, grandnieces Dena Chancellor and Brenttany Thompson and a great grandnephew Braiden Chancellor. Funeral services were 1:30 Saturday, December 29th at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Adam Abel officiating. Linda Barrett was the organist. Burial was in Reaves Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Chad Sanders, Kenny Thompson, Russell Sanders, Tommy Green, Randy Sanders and Steven Rawls.
