Ola Jean Gardner Hlavaty age 72, of Bay City, Texas died Saturday, January 3, in the Bay City Hospital. She was born September 21, 1931 in Bradley County Arkansas, a daughter of the late John T. Gardner and Quinnie Ola Thomason Gardner. She was a retired beautician, attended the Church of Latter Day Saints in Bay City and played basketball for the United States Navy. Survivors are her husband Donald Hlavaty whom she married April 19 1958 in Warren, Arkansas,; a son, Bill J. Hlavaty, Olive Branch Mississippi. A daughter Marian “Sissy” Butler, Sheridan, Arkansas. 3 brothers, John B. Gardner, Port Arthur, Texas,; William T. Gardner, Hermitage, Arkansas and James “Jim” Gardner, Warren, Arkansas. 3 sisters, Ruby Tully and Florence Dickens both of Benton, Arkansas,; Myrtle Tillman, Warren, Arkansas,; 4 grandchildren., Kimberly Sanders, Conroe, Texas,; Jennifer Noska, Sheridan, Arkansas,; Jayne Nucete and Suzanne Nucete both of Olivebranch, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by a sister Molly “Polly” Marcene Gardner. Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Thursday January 8, Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Mike Wallace officiating. Paige Grider was organist and soloist was Rodney “Hoss” Thomason. Burial was in McFarland Cemetery near Banks by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Bubba Gardner, John William Gardner, James Robert Gardner, Michael Gardner, Andrew Gardner, Hershel Tillman, Eugene Hawkins and Jerry Hawkins.
