John Huntley Rhodes, age 85, of Warren, Arkansas died Sunday, May 23, at WPNH. He was born February 19, 1919 at Crossett, Arkansas a son of the late James Robert Rhodes and Ellen Mae Huntley Rhodes. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of First Baptist Church of Warren and was a retired production department employee of Conoco Oil Company with 39 years of service. He is survived by his wife Virginia Stone Rhodes whom he married on April 20, 1944 at Biscoe, Ark; 2 sons John H. Rhodes, Jr. Longmont, Colo, and James Edward Rhodes, Orange, Texas; 1 daughter Marilyn Roper, Warren, Ark; 1 brother William H. Rhodes, El Paso, Tex; 3 sisters Agnes Harrelson and Margaret Brown, Jonesboro, Ark. and Rosemary Bowlin, Pocahontas, Ark; 7 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son Russell Rhodes, 2 brothers James Robert Rhodes, Jr. and Charles E. Rhodes and 2 sisters Melba Dooley and Elizabeth McDaniel. Graveside services were 11:00 am Tuesday, May 25, at Waldo Cemetery, Waldo, Ark. with Rev. Greg Stanley officiating. Arrangements by Frazerís Funeral Home. Larry Killian was soloist. Active pallbearers were Bill Bradshaw, H.I. Watkins, Jerry Graham, Dr. Willis Beene, Dr. Rodney Griffin and James Owen. Memorials preferred to First Baptist Church of Warren.
