Mary Dean Stedman Castleberry
Funeral Date: 1/25/2015

Mary Dean Stedman Castleberry went to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 22nd and was reunited with the love of her life, Jessie Hoyt Castleberry whom she married July 17th, 1943 and lost July, 26th, 2002. As a result of their love, she leaves behind three daughters, Glenda Laster, Nancy Willett and Jo Ann Pyle, and three sons, although not by birth but by love, Grady Laster, Joe Willett and Charles Pyle. She was second mother to Mark, Rose Mary, Kevin, Heather, Holly and Jeff. That is why she was honored with the title of “Mamma Mary”. She also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren. She was born September 27th, 1925 to John Wesley Stedman and Hazel Rogers Stedman in Warren, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and an infant son. A brother Wilburn Stedman and two sisters, Opal Reece Stedman and Laverne Cornish. Surviving other than her children is a brother, John Thelbert Stedman, Cabot, AR and two sisters Zula Mae Johnson and Brucell George, both of Warren, AR and a host of special nieces and nephews. She was a welder in the shipyards of California during World War II. She traveled with Hoyt on construction jobs but her heart was always in Bradley County where they decided it would be best if she stayed to provide their children a stable home. She raised tomatoes, worked at Potlatch and Jack Winters. The unconditional love that Hoyt and Mary showed their children and grandchildren was perfect example of Gods Love. Mary raised her children in Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a member. Funeral services were 2:00pm Sunday, January 25th at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Steve Pelz and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Musicians were Mary Clark, Marilyn Avery and John Hammond. Burial was in Hickory Springs Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Mark Laster, Kevin Cummings, Kevin Young, Jeff Willett, Jesse McKinnon and Neil Walker.
