Obituary:
Betty Jo Woodie Temple, age 81, of Warren, Ar, passed away, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Chapel Woods Nursing Center, Warren, AR, from complications of Alzheimers. She was born on December 14, 1932, in Little Rock to John Claude and Nettie Gardner Woodie, and moved to Warren when she was three years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Allen Temple, a granddaughter, Whitney Alise Temple, and a brother, John C.Woodie, II. Survivors are her husband of 64 years, Clyde Temple, a daughter, Deborah Heike and husband, John of Bentonville, AR, a son, John Douglas Temple and wife Vickie of Hamburg; two granddaughters, Rachel Temple Burney and husband Chris of Prairieville, LA, Lara Cooper and husband, Dave, of Bentonville, and three great- grandchildren, Jeremiah and Abigail Brown and Gus Cooper all of Bentonville; two sisters, Mary Carol Woodie of Montgomery, Texas, Nancy Amidon of North Carolina, a brother, Walter Woodie and wife Anita, of Star City, and a sister-in- law, Jane Woodie of West Helena and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a loving, supportive army wife to her husband during their twenty years of service including ten years in Germany, nine years in Fort Knox, KY and a year in Arkansas, while Clyde served in Vietnam. Betty was involved with the Officers Wives organization in many charitable activities during these years. They retired from the military in 1976 and relocated to the Longview Community (Bradley County) where they enjoyed fishing the Saline River, and hosting friends and family during their nine years there before moving back to Warren. She was a long time member of Warren First Baptist church and was especially active in her Sunday School class and the church hospitality activities. She also served her community on the board of the Warren City Planning Commission under three city mayors. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a life-loving lady with an outgoing personality and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends and neighbors. Funeral service was 1:30 p.m. Sunday December 14, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Todd West officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and Bob Haygood soloist. Burial service was 12:00 p.m. (noon) Monday December 15, at Little Rock National Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Walter Woodie, Jr., Bert Hubbs, Hal Hubbs, Jr., John Amidon, John C. Woodie, III, James Woodie, Scotty Heritage, Jeremiah Brown and Gus Cooper. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kerry Pennington and John B. Frazer, Jr.
