Elizabeth Hughes Oberkirch, age 87, of Ridgeland, Mississippi formerly of Warren, Ark. died Saturday, July 3, at Baptist Medical Center, Jackson. She was born November 29, 1916 at Dermott, Arkansas a daughter of the late William Crook and Hettie Crute Crook. She received her education in the Monticello School System and was a graduate of Arkansas A & M College, Monticello. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Warren and a retired school teacher in the Warren Public School System, Eastside School, as well as the Mobile Public School System. She married Carl L. “Skeeter” Hughes on January 4, 1937 at Monticello, Ark. and he died March 22, 1964. She then married Henry Oberkirch on September 16, 1968 in Mobile, Ala. and he died in l974. Surviving is a daughter Lynn Hughes Conerly, Clinton, Miss; 3 grandchildren Tyler Simmons Conerly Richland, Miss, William Carl Conerly and spouse Lana, Abita Springs, La. and Susan Day Conerly, Sacramento, Calif; 3 great grandchildren Andrew Kirk Conerly, Abita Springs, La; Spencer Conerly and Jared Conerly both of Richland Miss; a cousin Tom Haley, Warren, Ark; 5 nephews Haven O’More, Cambridge, Mass, Bill Anderson, Little Rock, Ark, Harold Crook, Pine Bluff, Ark, Dr. Robert Crook, Chattanooga, Tenn, and Larry Crook, Little Rock, Ark; 4 nieces Susan Hunter, Fort Mills, S.C, Sharon Kaufman, Mobile, Ala, Jean Triplett, Clinton, Miss. and Nena Townson, Manila, Ark. Graveside services were 1:00 pm Saturday, July 10, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Troy Pritt officiating. Active pallbearers were Buster Crook, Will Conerly, Tyler Conerly, Drew Conerly, David Brooks, Jackie Miller and Kim Davis.
