Leon Thornton, age 86, of Warren, AR. died Thursday September 27, in West Monroe, LA. Born May 8, 1926 in Sumpter, AR. a son of the late Charlie Green Thornton and Wadie Smith Thornton he was a retired logging coordinator for Potlatch Corp. for 32 years, founding member of Prospect Hunting Club in 1965, member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a World War II Marine Corps. veteran and the widower of Willie Mae Sharp Thornton who died June 1, 2002. They were united in marriage April 9, 1949. Also, preceding him in death were brothers W.J. Thornton, Leroy Thornton; sisters Rachel Taylor and Louise Camp. Survivors are 1 son Gary Thornton and spouse Patsy; 1 daughter Judy Thornton Wynne and spouse French, Jr. all of Warren, AR. 3 brothers Charles Thornton, Warren, AR., Kenneth Thornton, Sumpter, AR. and Billy Joe Thornton and spouse Wilma, Warren, AR. 1 sister Charlene Ferguson, Star City, AR. A sister in law Hilda Thornton, Warren , AR. 3 grandchildren French Wynne, III., Anne Wynne OíNeill and spouse Ricky, Katie Thornton Williams and spouse Josh, and 4 great-grandchildren Richard OíNeill, Victoria OíNeill, Huck Williams and Thomas OíNeill. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Sunday September 30, at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Bobby Pennington and Rusty Rowell officiating. Janice Sullivan was organist and Megan Taylor was soloist. Burial with flag presentation was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Doug Thornton, Keith Thornton, Kevin Thornton, Robert Camp, Jimmy Dale Camp, Kay Reep, Kip Reep, Brian Hairston and David Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Parnell, Norman Word and current and past members of Prospect Hunting Club. Memorials preferred Immanuel Baptist Church; 701 W.
