J. W. Lyon age 99 of Houston, TX (formerly of Warren, AR.) died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital in Houston, TX. He was born November 29th, 1912 in Bradley County, AR. a son of the late Shelby Carter Lyon and Ora B. Hargis Lyon. J. W. was born on the farm, worked for the Bradley Lumber Company for 20 years and then moved to Houston, TX where he owned and operated Lyon Motor & Parts for over 30 years. He was a life long and an original forming member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, and widow of Verna B. Williams Lyon whom he was married to from December 12, 1936 to December 9, 1993. Also preceding him in death was his second spouse, Ruby Beasley Lyon, a son, Jimmie Lyon, 5 brothers, Glynn Lyon, Leroy Lyon, Ed Lyon, Willie Fike Lyon, Otis Lyon, a sister Lottie Neely, a daughter-in-law Joyce Lyon and a granddaughter Lisa Lyon. Survivors include 2 sons, Ronald Lyon and spouse Charlene, Donald Lyon, and daughter-in-law Delores Lyon (widow of Jimmie Lyon) all of Houston, TX. 2 sisters, Martha Graham of Little Rock, AR. and Virginia Hickman of Lewisville, TX. 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were 10:00AM Saturday, September 8th at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Jerry Carter and Rev. Charles Wooley officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist was Ben Garner. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Scott White, Tracy White Derek White, Chad Gardner, Carroll Wayne Lathan and Harper White. Honorary pallbearers Charles Hogue, David Lyon, Jimmy Moseley, David Case, Wesley Cornish and Dr. David Chambers. Memorials preferred Ebenezer Cemetery Association or Central Missionary Baptist Church.
