Norma Jean Lyon

Norma Jean Lyon, 86, of Warren died February 23 at home surrounded by the people who loved her. She was born in Cotton Plant, Ar October 30, 1925 when her parents moved from Warren to start a business. Her family moved back and forth between Warren and El Dorado, where she graduated from El Dorado High School in 1943. On November 29, 1943, she married Willie Fike “Dub” Lyon, who preceded her in death on June 30, 1992. After their marriage, they lived in Sarasota, Florida for four years during his service during World War II and where she began a lifelong love of the beach. After the war, they returned to Warren to start and raise their family. Norma Jean was christened and confirmed in the First United Methodist Church of Warren, where her families were charter members. Upon her marriage, she practiced the Baptist faith until her death at Warren’s First Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Preceding her in death were her parents, Uell Rhea and Almeda McLeod Byars; brothers Billy Frank and Uell Rhea Byars, Jr.; sisters Jane Worell and Renna Perdue; and a daughter Rebecca “Becky” Scogin . Her survivors are her son-in-law , Don Scogin of Monticello; daughters Louann Ingram and spouse Tim of El Dorado, Elizabeth “Libby” Stracner and spouse Rickey of Warren; a brother Bobby Byars of LaPort, TX.; a sister Miriam Kapp of Longbeach, MS.; grandchildren Anna Carol Parrish and spouse Jarrod of Little Rock , Alison Burton and spouse Clark of El Dorado , James Tim “Dub” Ingram Jr. and spouse Brooke of El Dorado and William “Will” Stracner of Warren; Leigh Ann Tustison and spouse Stacy of Carlilse and Jennifer Cooper and spouse Scott of Maumelle.; great grandchildren: Tripp Burton , Mason and Aubrey Parrish, J.T. Ingram, Bailin Younts, Megan, Abigail and Grace Tustison. Service was officiated by Charles Simpson and Greg Stanley. Music was provided by Linda Barrett and soloist Cathy Lyon. Pallbearers were Bennie Byars, Kent Worrell, Darryl McDonald, John Perdue, Phil Thompson, Chris Jennings, Jarrod Parrish, Clark Burton and Brandon Lyon. Honorary Pallbearers were the staff of Bradley County Home Health, the staff of Warren Senior Citizen’s Center, Dr. Kerry Pennington and staff, Shirley Hampton, Gayle Simpson, Frances Kelly, Harvey Helton and staff of Hospice Angels. Services were held at Frazer’s Chapel Saturday, February 25th at 3:30 pm. Interment at Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Ebenezer Cemetery Association; 311 N. Myrtle; Warren, AR. 71671
