Obituary:
Ruth Marie Norman, age 91, of El Dorado, AR. formerly of Warren, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado AR. She was born February 2, 1920 in Akron, Ohio a daughter of the late Bob Atkins and Ruby Doster Atkins. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John R. Norman whom she married October 18, 1937 and he died June 22, 2001. A brother, Willie Schmidt and stepbrother, Johnny Schmidt. She is survived by a daughter, Annice M. Norman of Denton, TX, a son, David J. Norman and spouse Gayle, El Dorado, AR. one grandson, Avery Norman, El Dorado, AR. and a special friend, John Purtymun, of El Dorado. Marie received her LPN license at age 52, and worked for Hillsboro Manor Nursing Home in El Dorado. She loved quilting, cooking and for the last years of her life she enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at Sweethome Residential Center where she was a resident. Funeral services were 1:30pm Tuesday January 17th at Frazerís Chapel with Rev. Tommy Mellinger officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and music was provided by David Norman and Gayle Norman. Burial was in Union Cemetery at Rye by Frazerís Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Donald Doster, Robert Donald Curry, Jackie Curry, Mike Young, John Purtymun and Dwayne Tooke.
