Message: THE IMAGE I WILL ALWAYS HOLD IS A YOUNG CURRY MARTIN LEADING THE BAND AND THE 100 PLUS MIXED CHORUS IN HIS RENDITION OF "DRY BONES" AT THE YMCA IN 1954. MR. MARTIN SEEMED TO BE HAVING MORE FUN THAN HIS STUDENTS AND WE WERE HAVING A GREAT TIME. HE WAS ONE OF THE FOND MEMORIES IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Name: Mike Lonsberry
Message: The City and Warren, Bradley County and everywhere else is diminished somewhat by the loss of this man. I have two images of "Mr. Martin", one in front of "his" band leading the music, and then other in gum boots and flop hat in that big old boat of his on the river. Few have given as much and accomplished as much as Curry Martin did. Legions of band and glee club students are better people and citizens because of his work and influence. The kindest thing he ever did for me was to tell me that I should try an activity other than glee club, because, well, because glee club was not a good fit for me.(I simply cannot sing, even when covered by the voices of many others) My sympathy to his family, but know in your hearts that the mark he made will last well beyond our lifetimes.
