Ernest D. Johnson, Sr., age 92, of Hamburg, AR. died Thursday May 12, at his home. Born October 16, 1918 in Cravens, LA. a son of the late George Washington “Washie” Johnson and Nettie Perkins Johnson he was a retired paint contractor with 35 years of service, member Trinity Freewill Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran serving in the 12th. Calvary and Horse Shoe Calvary. Also, preceding him in death were sons Jerry Johnson, Richard Johnson, a daughter Helan Fingleman, a step son David Miller, and brothers Earl Johnson, Roy Johnson, Archie Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Kelly Johnson. Survivors are his wife LeFreda Johnson whom he married July 21, 2000. 3 sons Ernest Johnson, Jr., Kinafick, TX., Joshua Johnson and spouse Angela, Splendora, TX., Cory Johnson and wife Jennifer, Cleveland, TX. 1 daughter Joyce Kingkaid, Seabrook, TX. 4 step sons James Miller and spouse Patricia, Kevin Miller and spouse Renee all of Crossett, AR., Jason Fails and spouse Cynthia, Cleveland, TX. and Troy Fails, Splendora, TX. 5 step daughters Joann Christy and spouse Chris, Martha Jean Herrington and spouse Michael, all of Crossett, AR. Sandra Scarborough and spouse Jerry, Cynthia Davis and spouse Wayne all of Splendora, TX. and Bridgette Fails, Amarillo, TX. 1 brother Franklin Johnson, Pitkin, LA. 1 sister Zelle Nichols, Lavender, LA. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 4:00 p.m. Sunday May 15, at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. John Williams and Rev. John Ripley officiating. Music was provided by Bernetta Williams, Royce Culp, Mike White and the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church Choir. Burial was in Carlock Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Kevin V. Miller, Carlton Maxwell, Jr., Lynn Fingleman, Tony Maxwell, Jr., Michael Miller and Chad Gregg. Honorary pallbearers were the men of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church.
