Willie Chloteen Harrod Callaway

Willie Chloteen Harrod Callaway, 89, of Hermitage, AR, died December 7, 2010. She was born at Eagle Lake, AR, July 12, 1921, a daughter of the late Ira and Mirdie Hamilton Harrod. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Callaway (1983), a brother, Modesta Harrod (2009), and a granddaughter, Jennifer Renea Callaway (1985). Known by her extended family as “Nook”, she was the last surviving 1939 graduate of the Eagle Lake School. She was a homemaker and member of Hermitage United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Clydine Davis and her husband, Carlton, and Nancy Callaway; and two sons, Nick D. Callaway and his wife, JoEllen, and James C. Callaway and his wife, Terri, all of Warren. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Carl J. Davis and his wife Betsy of Little Rock, Cathie Davis Threlkeld and her husband Jim of Searcy, Nick D. Callaway III and his wife Holly of Fayetteville, NC, Joseph Callaway of Philadelphia, PA, Jacob Callaway, Allison Callaway Spraggins and her husband Alan, Anna Callaway, and Ashton Callaway, all of Warren. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Davis Threlkeld, Aley Ann Threlkeld, Denver Threlkeld, Audrey Catherine Threlkeld, Chandler Callaway, Blythe Callaway, Jax Callaway, and Riley Callaway. Funeral Services were held 1:30 p.m. Friday December 10, at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren with the Reverends Wayman Mann and Marty Reep officiating, followed with interment in Union Hill Cemetery near Hermitage. Linda Barrett was organist and vocalist were JoEllen Callaway and Joye Splawn. Active pallberers were Gifford Godfrey, Carl Davis, Rev. Gary Maskell, Billy Gorman, Bob Milton and Jacob Callaway. Honorary pallbearers were Baker Peebles, Tommy Burrow, Gerald Burton, Moses Williams, Bailey Mac Hargis, Jerry Morgan and Tony Orr. Memorials preferred to Hermitage United Methodist Church (c/o Sonya Knowles, 180 Bradley 89, Hermitage, AR 71647) or the Bradley County Veterans Museum (c/o John Little, 229 Bradley 23, Warren, AR 71671).
