Obituary:
The Rev. Dr. David Shepperson, Jr., age 84, of Murray, Ky. died April 1, 2009 at Murray. He was born November 10, 1924 in Lake Village, Arkansas a son of the late Rev David Shepperson, Sr. and Dorothy Rankin Shepperson. Rev. Dr. Shepperson grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was a B17 pilot in the US Air Corp during World War II. Dr Shepperson received his education in the El Dorado Public School System, Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in l952 and served churches in Morgan City, La, Warren, Ark, Meridian, Miss. and Covington, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his first wife Maria Hicks Shepperson who died November 5, 1980. In 1981 he married the Rev. Elizabeth (Betty) Ellison, also a Presbyterian minister and they served as an Interim Ministry team in several Presbyterian churches in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky before their retirement. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Shepperson, Murray, Kentucky; 2 daughters Dr. Grace Shepperson Bass and spouse Dr. Dan Bass, Lanett, Ala. and Dorothy Shepperson Morgan and spouse Randall, San Antonio, Tex; a brother Dr. Robert Shepperson and spouse Leah, Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister Dorothy Payne, Memphis, Tenn; 3 grandchildren Joel Bass, Lanett, Ala, David Morgan, Dallas, Tex. and Cassie Morgan Fisher and spouse Sean Fisher, San Antonio, Tex. Other survivors include 4 stepchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. Graveside services were 1:30pm Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Shady Grove Cemetery near New Edinburg, Arkansas. A memorial service was held April 5, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church in Murray, Kentucky. Memorials preferred to Hospice House-Calloway County Hospital, 803 Poplar, Murray, Kentucky 42071.
